  Isomalto-oligosaccharides are enzymatically manufactured from starch as a mixture of a-(1,6) and a-(1,4)linkaged glucosides. IMO mixture is partially hydrolyzed in the gastrointestinal tract to glucose,and then the glucose is absorbed and utilized by the body of animals and human.The undigested portion of IMO are considered as non- digestible oligosaccharides that escape digestion in the stomach and small intestine and reach the colon largely intactand fermented in the colon by microbiota. So IMO has prebiotics properties to gut health.
